Arms and Weapons Control Policy

Carriage of arms such as cargo and tools used for normal operation of the vessel are exempted from the scope of this policy.

The Company:

  • Is committed to comply with all national and international legislation on carriage of arms onboard the vessel
  • Prohibits carriage of any arms or weapons by crew on board, including swords, firearms and other explosives
  • Will cooperate fully with any port authority in the prosecution of any person carrying unauthorised arms on board

The Company permits:

  • Government officials entitled to carry arms while on duty, to board the vessel for any official work
  • Armed security guards at the gangway when required by port regulations. Master should obtain information on conditions of their deployment through the agent and brief the crew
  • Armed guards on board the vessel to enhance security at sea, subject to flag state approval and based on a risk assessment

Master:

  • Is responsible for the storage of arms to prevent unauthorised access
  • Must do the necessary reporting to authorities prior to arrival in port
  • Must ensure records of all arms are maintained in Logbook
